PERFORMANCE: One patient was harmed in a fall at Salford Royal hospital and seven suffered pressure ulcers in June, shows the FT’s latest transparency report.

Six out of the seven pressure ulcers were related to medical devices.

“The teams are now testing and sharing learning around device related pressure sores and expect to see significant improvements within this category,” says the report.

Other efforts to make the trust “the safest organisation in the NHS” include a new routine of hourly checks by nurses for all patients to ensure they are both safe and happy with their care.
