Ramadan Allies

Bradford Teaching Hospital Foundation Trust took a proactive approach to support their Muslim colleagues during Ramadan by providing managers with resources such as pop-up prayer packs and fast packs. More than 120 Ramadan Allies were voluntarily recruited to make Ramadan a positive experience for everyone, and one that could be managed within the normal working day. They created a culture of acceptance and support and championed the right for all to bring themselves to work fully and unconditionally. The judges felt that this entry was ambitious and innovative. It was a well targeted intervention that demonstrated clear benefits to creating a strong and inclusive organisational culture. The passion and drive of those involved is impressive, and they have succeeded in delivering a concept not seen before.
