FINANCE: University Hospitals of Leicester Trust has been given £15m of top-sliced funds to spend on improving productivity.
The trust struggled on a number of performance measures in 2010-11. It has received the non-recurrent fund to “support transitional change and contractual
transformational change, subject to agreement to and achievement of transformational key performance indicators linked to specific schemes”, according to board papers.
Commissioners expect the £15m to be aligned to the productivity challenges of the trust, including the quality, innovation, productivity and prevention “Right Care” programme, urgent care and pathology reconfiguration.
Commissioners intend to hold a further reserve of £5m as a contingency against further transformation and transitional costs arising in 2011-12 at the trust.
