PERFORMANCE: Long waits at University Hospitals of Leicester Trust’s A&E unit could lead to Leicester’s whole health economy missing its target.
Performance is 93.74 per cent and rated as a red risk in NHS Leicester City’s board papers.
There are two separate targets at play here. Firstly there is a whole health economy target which covers types I-IV attendances which are A&E attendance; Eye Casualty attendance; Walk in centres; and Minor Injury Units.
The second is a UHL contractual target of 95 per cent for types I and II attendances only.
There are very few breaches in Types III and IV and therefore the potential failure of the UHL target places the whole health economy target at risk.
