HSJ’s webinar on 7 February looked at what the increasing prevalence of automation means for the future of the NHS workforce.

Days before Eric Topol published his review on how NHS staff can best be supported to deliver a digital future, HSJ held a free webinar exploring how digitisation and automation might influence the workforce the service needs.

The event brought together:

  • James Freed, chief information officer at Health Education England and director of the building a digital ready workforce programme;
  • Neil Suchak, policy advisor, Recruitment & Employment Confederation;
  • Annabelle Collins, HSJ’s workforce correspondent; and
  • Phil Sheen, head of public sector at Thoughtonomy.

Together, they discussed issues including how best to prepare the NHS workforce for increased automation and digitisation, what such a shift means for workforce planning, and how greater digitisation might influence efficiency and outcomes.

Viewers were able to pose questions live to the panel.

The webinar is now available on demend for free.
