Cambridge University Hospitals Foundation Trust

Cambridge Hospitals missing 18 week target

PERFORMANCE: Cambridge University Hospitals Foundation Trust is not meeting the 18 week referral-to-treatment standard and progress on doing so has fallen behind plan, the PCT cluster board heard. The trust is likely to miss agreed recovery targets for some specialities.

GPs have been asked to make clear to patients the waiting times at CUHFT compared with other trusts and this is leading to a small number of patients choosing to go elsewhere. Some orthopaedic patients are being offered treatment at Hinchingbrooke Hospital instead but only around a third have taken up this option. The PCTs have held meetings with CUHFT but a report to the board says: ‘A comprehensive proven set of actions are not yet in place that will deliver the standards.’
