Alastair McLellan named 'editor of the year'

HSJ editor Alastair McLellan has been named ‘editor of the year’ by magazine trade body, the Periodical Publishing Association.

The PPA awards, considered the “Oscars” of the UK magazine sector, were held in London on Wednesday night.

Presenting the award, the judges said: “We unanimously agreed that Alastair McLellan has demonstrated clear leadership and editorial vision. In 2012 he led HSJ through its first major repositioning since the launch of the NHS 64 years earlier, with great success. He is fantastic figurehead for a very well known title with the courage to not only take a stand, but also a strong point of view.”

Mr McLellan said: “It is a privilege to edit HSJ and to serve healthcare leaders. This award is, in truth, a tribute to the entire HSJ editorial team − the strongest I have worked with in 27 years as a journalist.”
