A new health and care integration summit is to be launched by HSJ and its sister title Local Government Chronicle with the intention of offering advice and support to health and wellbeing board members.
The integration summit will bring together professionals from local government, the NHS and associated bodies for debate and simulation exercises designed to improve system leadership and outcomes.
The free-to-attend event takes place in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, on 12-13 June. It is intended to help senior leaders who are seeking to work more effectively together to transform their local health and care system.
HSJ deputy editor Emma Maier said: “Councils are now increasingly important players in the health service but there often remains a gulf between the cultures of the local government and the NHS.
“It is vital that all organisations involved in the local health economy come together to plan services, and the integration summit helps them to do that.”
LGC editor Nick Golding said: “It is only through health and wellbeing boards improving the coordination of local services that care can be improved and financial challenges overcome.
“The integration summit is designed to give these fledgling organisations all the support they need to make a success of their new role.”

A quota of places has been allocated for each group represented on health and wellbeing boards to ensure the make-up of the summit resembles that of boards across the country.
