NHS 60: help mark the birth of an institution
This week HSJ launches six months of coverage marking the 60th anniversary of the founding of the NHS on 5 July 1948.
In the magazine, online and in a special publication in the week of the anniversary we will be analysing the NHS's history, celebrating its successes, talking to those who have played a role in its development and debating its future.
This week we interview managers who were working for the health service on the day the defining institution of post-war Britain launched, and reveal what the 1,600 respondents to our survey think about the NHS past, present and future.
In addition, we collaborate with the King's Fund to examine how the NHS and our health have changed over the last six decades, beginning with changes in public health.
All our 60th anniversary coverage is in partnership with BT, Lloydspharmacy, Airwave, Humana and Tribal.
Central to it will be the achievements and memories of you and your organisation. This month we launch a website dedicated to the 60th anniversary and are inviting trusts and individuals to contribute photographs, recollections and observations.
Please send contributions to nhs60@emap.com or call Anamika Rath on 020 7728 3748, and help make the NHS 60th anniversary the celebration the service deserves.
