Managing the new NHS - an HSJ supplement

This bumper HSJ supplement looks at the myriad of areas where organisations will need a firm handle, to manage the transition to a new, post-reform NHS.

With a foreword by NHS Confederation chief executive Mike Farrar, this 15-page supplement includes features on clinical spending, care pathway reconfiguration, new approaches to public health marketing, patient involvement, personal health budgets and a special report on elderly care.

  • A short while ago a recently retired GP confided in me that progression in NHS management was dependent on a willingness to bend the rules, distort the truth and turn a blind eye to malpractice. The NHS does not need lectures from Mike Farrar or the self-serving NHS Confederation; it needs major shifts in management culture, audit practices and personal accountability.
