The HSJ Awards 2025 were announced last night, marking the 45th year of celebrating exceptional achievements across the NHS.

With Vodafone Business as headline partner, this year’s programme featured 27 categories recognising innovation, leadership and outstanding contributions from teams and individuals throughout the service.

A total of 1,250 entries were received in the first stage, with more than 200 judges selecting 246 finalists. The awards once again highlighted the depth and diversity of work taking place across the health service, from established improvement initiatives to emerging approaches to patient care.

More than 1,700 guests attended the event at Evolution London, where the ceremony was hosted by actor and comedian Rob Brydon. NHS Charities Together served as the charity partner for the evening, supporting the celebration of NHS staff and organisations at all levels.

HSJ editor Alastair McLellan said: “It is difficult enough to achieve what you have managed in good times. To do so in a period where the service is struggling on all fronts and – in many ways – has still not recovered from the pandemic, is another thing altogether.

“Feeling that those efforts often go unappreciated makes it harder still. But tonight, you can put all such worries aside, because all that blood, sweat and tears have been worth it. You are an HSJ Awards finalist and – very possibly – a winner.”

This year, the awards were presented across three key areas: Excellence in Patient Care and Innovation; Leadership and Workforce Development, and Tackling Health Inequalities and Community Impact.

Vodafone Business’s head of public sector Paul Taylor said: “The HSJ Awards shine a light on the remarkable people and organisations driving innovation and improvement across health and care. Witnessing the creativity, compassion, and collaboration within the NHS is truly inspiring.

“Congratulations to all entrants, finalists, and winners – your achievements continue to inspire us as we work together to build a more digitally enabled and resilient health and care system for the future.”
