Our Performance Improvement Journey – From Near The Bottom of The Tables to The Top
Partnered by

West Hertfordshire NHS Trust has delivered a remarkable performance turnaround across multiple areas. The trust climbed 100 places in A&E four-hour performance, virtually eliminated surge beds and corridor care, and significantly improved ambulance handovers while reducing delayed discharges.
Elective care recovery saw the trust eliminate 65-week waits and cut its patient treatment list by 30 per cent, making it the second most improved trust for 18-week referral-to-treatment times in 2024-25. The organisation has met all cancer standards for nine consecutive months and achieved its best ever staff survey results, while improving digital maturity and financial position.
