FINANCE: A new electronic patient record system which will help to support clinical decisions has taken a step forward for Cambridge University Hospitals and Papworth Hospital.
They have chosen Hewlett Packard and Epic as preferred bidders to supply hardward and infrastructure (HP) and software and systems (Epic).
Gareth Goodier, chief executive of Cambridge University Hospitals, said: “The selection of HP and Epic, two world-class organisations, is the first step in our 10-year journey to transform our hospitals through our innovative eHospital programme.
“This is more than an electronic patient record system - it will support clinical decisions and lead to better prescribing, improved patient communications and more effective management of our services.”
The two companies are expected to work with the hospitals over the next 10 years.
