The NHS commissioning board will approve the leaders of consortia – and issue guidance to limit how much they are paid, the health bill suggests.
However, it confirms the commissioning board, when authorising practices to form consortia, will decide whether the person they want as their accountable officer is “appropriate”.
The board will have the power to appoint accountable officers and will be able to pick one individual to cover more than one consortium.
One of the few details outlined is consortia may be required to publish “prescribed information relating to the remuneration” of its staff; and that the national board, “may publish guidance for commissioning consortia on the determination of remuneration”.
