The charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer is calling on GPs to help dispel widespread confusion among patients about the signs and symptoms of breast cancer.

The initiative is part of the charity's campaign'Show your breasts some TLC: Touch Look Check'.

Itfollows research published by the charity which shows that only 14 per cent of women surveyed look for changes in the skin on the breasts, only 16 per cent said they check for discharge from the nipple, and less than a quarter said they look for changes in the shape of the breast.
