It was nice to be quoted in the article about clinical leadership by Ann Dix (Career Profile, 16 April).
While we may feel sorry for senior nurses who feel out of step with their organisation's culture, we need to place responsibility where it belongs. Nurse executives are leaders and therefore responsible for developing the organisational culture. If they do not feel that it is right, they need to work to change it, however challenging that may be, including marrying the corporate agenda with clinical goals. We have the ideal opportunity under the new clinical governance arrangements.
