A number of senior managers and leaders in the health service have been recognised in the Queen's birthday honours.

NHS North East chair Peter Carr has been knighted for his services to the NHS and president of the Royal College of Radiologists Professor Janet Husband was made a dame.

Several managers were made CBEs, including Humber Mental Health Teaching trust chief executive Linda Glasby, University Hospital Birmingham foundation trust chair John Charlton, Royal Liverpool Children's Hospital trust chair Angela Jones and Royal College of GPs chair Professor Mayur Lakhani.

Also given the honour were Department of Health regional public health director Dr Rashmita Shukla, chair of Waltham Forest primary care trust Joan Saddler and chair of the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence appraisal committee Professor David Barnett.

Other CBEs included Hereford Healthcare trust chair Cecily Moore, DoH director of workforce capacity, analysis and human resources Flora Goldhill, Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals foundation trust chief executive Nigel Clifton, and Bath and Somerset PCT chief executive Rhona McDonald.
