What a curious letter from Jenny Griffiths (18 October).
Most people would agree with her that the NHS faces huge challenges at the moment.
Why then does she question the need for a rigorous selection process to appoint the chief executives of the new strategic health authorities? Suggesting that it is somehow offensive to test current managers in this way is nearly as bad as HSJ attempting to pick the successful candidates itself.
What we need are equal opportunities, not patronage and old boy networks. Those who are
