STRUCTURE: Liverpool Women’s Foundation Trust will market its redesigned abortion service to women in the Republic of Ireland, board papers show.

The trust’s termination of pregnancy (ToP) service is to be redesigned so women having medical terminations can be seen on an outpatient basis.

Patients scheduled for surgical termination will attend outpatient appointments at the trust’s dedicated Bedford Unit with day care delivered on the hospital’s Rosemary ward on set days to ensure privacy, according to chief exective Kathryn Thompson’s report to the May board meeting.

“This reconfigured ToP service will be marketed to a wider group of women including those living in Ireland,” says the report.
