Twenty organisations have been honoured in HSJ’s annual celebration of inspirational best practice in the awards’ eighth and biggest year to date.

Comedian Jo Caulfield joined HSJ editor Alastair McLellan at London’s Grosvenor House to announce who had most impressed the judges at a time of “fierce operational challenges”, and when the drive to improve care quality and efficiency faced exceptionally tight financial constraints.

Mr McLellan said that more than 400 entries had been received, from every region and type of NHS organisation. “The number and quality of entries to this year’s Value in Healthcare Awards are the most impressive to date.”

It was also important that the rest of the NHS had the opportunity to learn from what entrants had achieved in their work, he said. To ensure this, every one of the shortlisted and winning entries would be added to HSJ Solutions, the largest repository of validated best practice available to the NHS.
