  • It is like a breath of fresh air to see that the local regulatory power of PCTs in assuring the quality and safety of the GP workforce is finally given a mention. It is a shame that the terminology is wrong. Point of clarity for HSJ and KPMG - the statutory lists that each primary care organisation maintain are called performer's lists and not 'performance lists' as suggested in the article 'A shock to the system'. The priority of PCTs throughout the forthcoming 18 month transition will be to ensure that these lists are robust and accurate as they form the cornerstone for revalidation of general practitioners. Revalidation itself presents with a huge challenge for organisations where the main priority is creating a viable commissioning offer for CCGs. As a clinical governance practitioner, my priority has to be to keep the momentum going around the quality and assurance agenda and management of performer's lists is one of these priorities.
