University Hospital of North Midlands Trust: National Frailty Academy

The academy provides free training to all grades of willing health and care staff and public in any setting by a national faculty of experienced clinical multidisciplinary staff. This helps improving the frail older individuals’ daily life, supporting health and care systems and promoting a standardised high level of care. The faculty has already trained over 2,500 people by raising general awareness of frailty and delivering flexible bespoke training packages to individuals and organisations, including care homes and ambulance services.

The judges were impressed by the clear commitment to share the training broadly across many sectors, including schools and communities.
