WORKFORCE: The foundation trust has introduced a dress code covering all staff, as well as those wearing uniforms.
The code was drawn up by Ellen Bull, the trust’s interim director of nursing and patient experience, after the trust identified “a need for an overarching uniform and dress code policy which provides direction and guidance to all trust staff… to dress appropriately for their role/s”.
In a board report, Ms Bull stated: “The only existing policy refers only to employees who wear uniforms and it is necessary to provide direction and guidance to all staff, to promote the trust as a professional organisation.
“All forms of dress, whether or not a uniform will be required to comply with infection control policies and health and safety policy. Support a secure and safe environment with staff wearing appropriate work wear for their safety and display trust ID badges.”
Her report adds: “The policy respects religious dress requirements and provides guidance to department managers.”
