Data access and clinical letters are currently imperfect in the NHS − but technology can change all that

The in-depth articles in our supplement look at two areas of the NHS where cumbersome and sometimes unusable systems − for data and clinical letters − are being tackled with new technology.

In the first article, Daloni Carlisle looks at how the Open Data Platform is being used to improve the accessibility of research data delivery, while columnist Richard Corbridge from the NIHR Clinical Research Network talks about developing an information strategy that will increase transparency and reduce complexity.

In the second article, Daloni Carlisle examines the often frustration-making clinical letter and why it is such an ineffective tool. She and columnist Chris Rodwell look at a pilot being developed by one foundation trust and Winscribe to modernise the process.
