Dedicated Refugee & Asylum clinic
Partnered by

The multidisciplinary clinic in Liverpool provides comprehensive healthcare support for asylum seekers and refugees, having completed 893 detailed medical assessments over a two-year period.
The service collaborates with the Home Office, local authorities, and charitable organisations to address ethnic health inequalities through culturally appropriate care, psychosocial support referrals, and assistance with navigating primary care services.
This innovative approach has delivered significant benefits for both patients and the wider healthcare system. By offering extended consultations specifically designed to address complex healthcare needs, the clinic has relieved pressure on local GP practices, saving more than 677 hours of clinical time that would otherwise have been required.
The clinic’s effectiveness is evidenced by growing numbers of patient registrations and referrals, alongside positive feedback from partner organisations. Its impact was further recognised through an award at the 2023 GP Awards, highlighting both improved patient outcomes and enhanced workforce capacity across the local health system.
