Digitising Care for Children With Complex Epilepsy

A pioneering pilot in Luton that aims to bypass NHS digital bureaucracy and make life easier for children with complex epilepsy. A passionate paediatric team from hospital and community, the ICS pharmacy lead and parents partnered with Patients know Best to co-produce a digital epilepsy record that empowers parents to take control of their child’s care. We engaged Wellbeing Software to extract data from the GP Clinical systems to enable the flow of medicines (current and past), allergies, and diagnoses into the PKB Platform.

Results are positive, with clinicians experiencing better communication and parents reporting their lives have been transformed. Judges said the winners presented a fantastic and inspiring project, clearly connecting data and information. The patient and family stories clearly demonstrated true patient empowerment. The panel were unanimous in their view that this work deserves to be the winner in what has been an extremely strong field this year.
