WINNER: Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care System & Partners: Getting Under the Skin - The Impact of Covid-19 on Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Communities

As data continued to show the disproportionate impact covid-19 was having on Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities, it was vital the partnership addressed these long-standing disparities. But this could not be achieved without a deeper understanding of the impacts coronavirus was having on these communities. The ‘Getting Under the Skin’ initiative focused on developing research and recommendations which would be instrumental in successfully improving services interventions, communications and engagement between the NHS and local authorities and different ethnic groups across Cheshire and Merseyside. The findings from the research were then used to develop a targeted campaign to address vaccine hesitancy within these communities.
