WINNER: University Hospitals Bristol and Weston Foundation Trust: To Infinity and Beyond! – Digitising a Children’s Emergency Department, and Interfacing Partner Services

Recognising potential benefits for clinicians, patients, and the environment, a multiprofessional collaborative Children’s Emergency Department Digital Delivery team implemented six new digital processes over two weeks in 2022. Whilst this brought to a close one stage of a seven-year journey, it unlocked potential for further rapid digitisation. Benefits to date include improvement in care, flow efficiencies, better family and staff experience, cost savings, and 1 million pieces of paper saved in year one. Building on gains, cross-organisation electronic processes have been established, with future focus placed on technological advances in digital care support systems for patients and families.
