Professor Simon Conroy has worked tirelessly to improve outcomes for older people living with frailty by embedding evidence-based medicine into clinical practice. He leads research to assess different care models for clinical and cost-effectiveness, feeding into large-scale frailty improvement networks supporting adoption into practice at scale. He has provided clinical leadership to influence acute care for older people in more than 120 UK hospitals, and 60 specialised services. He is an author of the Silver Book, which has been downloaded over 200,000 times and accessed by 98 different countries. All the above has been achieved whilst also working in clinical practice. The judges recognised him for his excellent leadership, implementation of strategies and systematic uptake presented over many years across the NHS.
