The East Midlands Planned Care Centre at Leicester General Hospital is located in one of the UK’s most diverse regions. The facility actively improves patient access with multilingual self check-in kiosks in six languages. Since opening in December 2024, the facility has improved access to essential services for patients. It represents a step change in how the hospital delivers outpatient services. By combining multilingual accessibility with smart technology, organisers say they are fundamentally transforming the patient journey. The self check-in innovation is part of a wider digital strategy to reduce health inequalities by embedding equity in digital transformation, ensuring that digital solutions benefit everyone.
