Health Innovation East Midlands: Digital Innovation Helps Tackle ADHD Waiting List Challenge

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a brain development disorder affecting around one in 20 school-aged children. Timely detection can moderate risks and improve outcomes, but there was no simple ADHD test, with long NHS waiting times and patchy or unavailable services. The Health Innovation Network collaborated with innovator Qbtech to roll out a digital tool across England’s NHS – between 2020 and 2024, more than 71,000 children have benefited, three-quarters of NHS trusts are now using the tool, assessment times reduced by up to 153 days, and an estimated 95,097 hours of clinical time were released, with NHS estimated savings of £38.5m.
