NHS England: Wayfinder Programme

Wayfinder helps reduce NHS resource burden and the environmental impact of patient appointments while improving the patient experience. Through surfacing patient appointments and functionality in the NHS App, enabling patients to book, amend and cancel their appointments and complete perioperative questionnaires, Wayfinder will help reduce wait times, did not attends, clinical cancellations and the elective care backlog. When reviewing these benefits through an environmental impact assessment and modelling the volumes in terms of carbon emissions, we are able to demonstrate significant carbon reductions and present a case for other digital channels to help drive towards net zero.
