The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals Foundation Trust: Empowering Teenage and Young Adults - a Co-Produced Resource Explaining Cancer Research, Enabling TYA’s to Make Informed Decisions Around Their Care

The Teenage and Young Adult (TYA) Cancer Service in NHS England has made significant strides in improving care for young adult cancer patients. In 2019, new service specifications were introduced with a focus on increasing research participation and providing age-appropriate care. To address the lack of age-appropriate information for this group, the TYAR.org website was created by two senior nurses and a group of young adult cancer patients. This website empowers young adult patients to make informed decisions about their care and place of treatment. Its innovative approach has been recognised as a valuable resource for the TYA community.
