The frailty academy: transforming safety and quality of care for older people through a comprehensive interdisciplinary whole system education and training programme

The Frailty Academy is a comprehensive education programme within Surrey Heartlands Integrated Care System that trains health and care staff to better support people living with frailty. Using a tiered learning approach that ranges from basic awareness to specialist clinical skills, the initiative has already engaged more than 6,000 staff members. This widespread participation has led to measurable improvements in patient safety and outcomes. The Academy has received national recognition as an exemplary training model, with potential for wider adoption across the NHS to drive system-level improvements in frailty care.
