Collaborative Insourcing to Expand NHS Orthopaedic Capacity in York

York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust and Clifton Park Hospital, part of Ramsay Health Care UK, have established an innovative insourcing partnership to tackle elective waiting lists. The collaboration has created an “elective hub” at CPH, ensuring patients receive fair and timely access to NHS orthopaedic services. When York and Scarborough lost orthopaedic capacity in 2022, a new modular theatre was quickly set up at CPH to transfer the orthopaedic pathway and maintain NHS services. The partnership demonstrates how public and private sector collaboration can deliver results for patients.
