HSJ Independent Healthcare Provider Awards 2026: Best Provider of Mental Health Services

The SMI Healthy Lifestyle Service is an 18-week behaviour change programme supporting people with serious mental illness to make sustainable lifestyle improvements. Commissioned by two NHS trusts in Staffordshire and delivered by Everyone Health Ltd, the service takes a person-centred approach to helping participants build health literacy, confidence, and social connections while improving their physical and mental wellbeing. The programme uses the COM-B model – a framework that examines capability, opportunity, and motivation as drivers of behaviour change – alongside community partnerships to empower participants. Its flexible design combines education, peer support, and inclusive activities to overcome barriers to participation. The service demonstrates how co-production, compassion, and behavioural science can work together to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities across diverse communities.
